What Must I Do to Be Saved?
According to Scripture, all of humanity exists in a fallen state, having sinned against God. Consequently, all of us deserve eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire as the righteous penalty for our sin.
But God, in his love, compassion and mercy, has not left us to perish without hope. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, the eternal Son of God was conceived and born of the virgin Mary in a true human body with a full human nature, and named Jesus of Nazareth, or Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ lived a perfectly holy life without ever sinning in any way whatsoever, and pleased God the Father at all times. But in spite of his absolute holiness and perfect innocence, he willingly suffered the penalty for sin upon the cross of Calvary, shedding his blood, dying and afterwards rising again from the grave to be exalted to God's right hand in Heaven as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. By accomplishing all of this, he has provided salvation for all those that repent and trust him as their only Saviour.
